BUTLERS

The role of Butlers has changed dramatically over the years as the demands of a modern household have also altered.

WHERE DO WE RECRUIT A BUTLER FOR?

The traditional ‘Downton Abbey’ Butler in formal households does still exist where he (or she) has a role that encompasses being the head of household staff . This role involves all the familiar duties of formal table service, serving drinks, valeting, greeting guests, being in charge of the wine cellar, cleaning of silver and organising the care of fine antiques and art, liaising with the housekeeper, supervising and recruiting other staff and general management of the home. However a modern Butler role will encompass all this and so much more!!

Our Clients are now also looking for multi-talented individuals multi-talented individuals who are willing to do more. A Butler these days could also be required to act as chauffeur, Personal Assistant, cook, and events organiser, liaison with suppliers and contractors, and in the country may also be expected to have knowledge of shoots and care of guns and be able to organise staff for shoot weekends. Travelling with the Principal may also be involved.

WHAT TYPE OF BUTLER DO WE OFFER?

A Butler would usually live in and be given private accommodation such as a cottage or flat.

We recruit our candidates, who come from all over the world, very carefully. All Butler candidates are interviewed thoroughly, and must have at a minimum of at least three years experience, suitable references that can be checked, good spoken English and other languages if required, together with the knowledge of how to work in a house that is presented and run to the highest standards regardless of where you are located.

Our aim is not to send you lots of Butler candidates – just the right candidates.

If you are looking to recruit a Butler please telephone 020 3174 2446 or email  enquiries@tandcstaff.com    We would be happy to help.
